There might be a refresh underway for the Apple MacBook Air, which confirms our report back in July. Since it's debut in January, it is claimed as the world's thinnest laptop. PhoneNews.com obtained "confirmation" that Apple will release a revision of the MacBook Air powered by a more powerful Core 2 Duo based on the Penryn family clocked at 2GHz. Currently, the MacBook Air is powered by a custom Intel Core 2 Duo based on the Merom family in 1.6Ghz and 1.86GHz flavors.
Apple's remedy for a more powerful Penryn 2GHz Core 2 Duo is to equip the Air will a higher capacity battery and a more powerful 60W power adapter, according to the report.
They also mentioned the SSD models will be offered at the current SSD price: which is $2598 for the 1.8GHz and $2398 for the 1.6GHz model. The new revision is said to come with upgraded 120GB Hard Drive (from 80GB) and optional 160GB hard drive.
Word is the announcement is around the corner, most likely in September.
