Intel is finally shipping 160GB version of X25-M SATA Solid-State Drive. The new 2.5-inch X25-M drive joins the previously released 80GB variant (which currently sells for $530). Both the drives belong to Intel's Mainstream SATA Solid State Drive lineup and offer Read & Write speeds up to 250MB/s and 70MB/s respectively. They are based on MLC (multilevel cell) technology.
A similar 1.8-inch 160GB version is already in the works. These X18-M drivers will begin shipping next month and is geared towards high-performance ultra-portable laptops.
Intel also offers X-25E Extreme Solid-State Drives for workstation & server application. It's available in 32GB version currently with the 64GB expected to be available soon.
Intel's 160GB X25-M and X18-M SSDs cost approx. $950 when purchased in 1,000-unit quantities.
