The latest Vado pocket camcorder offers high definition video recording, an HDMI port, and a 2" LCD display wrapped in a small, easy to carry design.
Creative has released the second generation of it's Vado pocket camcorder, the Vado 720p HD.

The camcorder is small and light, and meant to comfortably fit in your palm, pocket, or purse, making it an ideal anywhere camera.

While there's over a dozen high definition cheapo camcorders available, the Vado HD seperates itself in one way - it features an HDMI port for 1080i output to an HDTV.

The lens is made from glass - versus the plastic found on some cheaper models - and offers 8GB of internal flash storage, which allows 2 hours of high definition footage. In addition, the Vado HD also features a 2" LCD display, allowing you to review your footage easily.

The battery is user-removeable and rechargeable, and easy to remove for those times when you need to swap out for the spare battery.

The USB 'cable' is built into a fold-away arm on the camcorder, which may or may not be convenient depending on your computer's USB port alignment.

Unfortunately, the player doesn't offer a memory card expansion slot, so you're limited to the two hours of videos before having to transfer to your PC.

"We designed the Vado HD so you can easily shoot all of life's spontaneousand fun moments, and then come home and watch your videos on an HDTV - allwith true high-definition quality," said Steve Erickson, VP and GM for audioand video at Creative.

"You can upload the videos to your PC, or what'sreally cool is to watch them on your HDTV in full HD quality. Some cameras such as the Flip Mino HD record HD video but don't let you output it in high definition to your HDTV.

Even the New York Times laments, 'the Mino HD is ahi-def camcorder that can't play your movies in high def on a high-def TV.'The Vado HD delivers 1080i high-definition video to an HDTV, plus it offersthe convenience of an HDMI connection."

The Vado HD is available now for $230. You can add a carrying case for $15, a spare battery for $15, a charging station and wall adapter for $30, and an underwater case fo $30.
