Thermaltake Beetle CPU Cooler ReviewBy:Jetion Date:2005-8-23 10:30:35 |
Introduction
Today I am reviewing the Thermaltake Beetle CPU cooler. This is one of the newest heatsinks released by Thermaltake. It is also the featured item in Thermaltake's promotional calendars for this month. I ran the heatsink through its paces with one of the hotter CPUs on the market in order to give you an accurate idea of how it performs.
Features and Specifications
Here are the specifications direct from Thermaltake:

This is one of the biggest heatsinks that I've ever seen. This is a picture of the heatsink next to a regular mouse so that you can see just how big it is.

The heatsink has a fan controller on it that allows you to control the fan speed. It comes with one you can put in a 3.5" bay, and one you can put into a PCI slot on the case. You can only use one of them, not both. If you do not hook up one of the fan controllers then the fan will spin at its max speed. When the fan is running at maximum speed, it is pretty loud, much louder then the stock heatsink. While when it was running at minimum I could not hear a thing from it.
This product comes with everything needed to mount the heatsink onto any of the common sockets, Socket A (Athlon XP & Sempron), Socket 478 (Intel P4), Socket 754 and 939 (Athlon64 & Sempron) and the Intel LGA775.

This is the heatsink from each direction. When the heatsink is on it has a blue LED light right below the red part. The Thermaltake symbol on the front also changes colors.
