MODTHEBOX would like to thank Jessica from OCZ Technology for sending the OCZ ModStream 520W Power Supply for reviewBy:Jetion Date:2005-6-24 12:09:32 |
Introduction:
With the advent of second generation video cards, such as the ATI 9000 series and NVIDIA 5000's, many consumers have found existing 300W budget power supplies to be the weakest link in a computer configuration. The introduction of more powerful video cards, such as x800's and 6800's, SLI and Crossfire setups with twin PCI Express components demand that existing power supplies require your immediate attention. Today in the MTB Labs we will be evaluating the OCZ ModStream OCZ52012U; the latest modular PSU unit marked by OCZ Technology.
Specifications:
The ModStream 520W Power Supply is one of two current power supply offerings from OCZ Technology. Most consumers may easily recognize OCZ as a manufacturer of some truly top-notch memory modules. The ModStream power supply is designed with the modder in mind and includes a modular design and removable cables. The PowerStream is non-modular and includes stock power cable configuration. Here are some of the specifications taken directly from the OCZ Technology website:

The OCZ ModStream 520W Power Supply arrived completely undamaged and packed fairly securely in its bubble wrap support bag. The box itself was pretty flashy with images of OCZ52012U and a copy of the power ratings listed on the side.
